Granny's house provided lots of entertainment for us. The 50 gallon barrel was just one of the few. We used this barrel for quiet a few thing.
It was a great stand for our hobo jumping. We would climb up on the barrel and then jump on the hobo. It was pretty hard for the younger kids to climb up on it but they did.
My favorite memory of the "barrel" was in the front yard. We would take turns getting on it and walking it across Granny's yard. It was always really hard going over the sidewalk because it was bumpier. We would go two at a time and then see if we could knock on or the other of us off. The boys liked to get inside of the barrel and then have someone push them across the yard. Still to this day I get claustrophobic and nauseated thinking of that!
I think back to how little it took to entertain us as kids. We were rowdy, but we sure had fun when we found something we liked.
